The 2011 Billboard Music Awards, live from the MGM Grand Las Vegas, did not disappoint music fans. The show was jam-packed with outrageous performances and unique collaborations that kept the audience entertained.
The show opened with Rihanna and Brittany Spears’ sexy rendition of the Bajan songstress’s “S&M.” Rihanna rocked the stage in an all-white “S&M” inspired outfit complete. Not to be outdone, Spears joined in the middle of the song wearing a black eye-mask and an equally sexy get-up. One thing that many people DIDN’T see was now-infamous “kissing scene” where Rihanna and Britney locked lips during the performance. That part of the performance was censored by ABC.
Another memorable performance came from Billboard Millennium Artist Award winner Beyonce, who gave a show stopping performance of her new single “Run the World (Girls)”. Prior to receiving the award Beyoncé was honored in a video montage by her father, Matthew Knowles, her sister, Solange, her nephew, First Lady Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Bono, The-Dream, Stevie Wonder, Babyface and Barbra Streisand.
Eminem dominated the Rap Categories, winning 6 Billboard Awards in total, including Top Male Artist, Artist of the Year, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Rap Album and Top Rap Artist. Seventeen-year-old pop sensation Justin Bieber matched Eminem for most awards won, taking home six of the coveted awards.
The always sexy Rihanna, who was originally nominated in eighteen categories, took home awards for Top Radio Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Rap Song for her “Love The Way You Lie” collaboration with Eminem.
