Jay-Z & Universal Music Group Reunite.

Jay-Z has signed a deal with Universal Music Group to bring his Roc Nation brand, reuniting Hov with Universal, where he has spent the majority of his recording career. Word-on-the-Street is that Roc Nation will still be run independently, and will partner with the largest record company in the world UMG in regards to distribution and promotion of future projects.

Jay-Z had this to say to the press regarding the new venture:

“We are looking forward to working with Lucian and the incredible team he’s assembled at Universal. We would like to applaud Lucian for collaborating with us to strike a new age deal. This agreement presents a unique opportunity for Roc Nation’s artists-being able to continue to operate as an independent label with the strength, power and reach of the best major. I look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration with UMG. It feels good to be home.”

The new deal with UMG comes a week after the launch of Jay’s new sports agency, Roc Nation Sports which has  already lured New York Yankees superstar second baseman Robinson Cano away from his previous agent. Rumor has it that Jay-Z is currently in the studio working on his as-of-yet untitled New Album.
