The Atlanta rapper was released yesterday, August 31, from Forrest City Correctional Facility in Arkansas after serving 10 months for his conviction.
Back in September 2010 police pulled over his vehicle for making an illegal U-turn on Sunset Blvd. During the course of the traffic stop they were overwhelmed with the smell of marijuana, which led them to perform a narcotics investigation. According to a statement released by the L.A. County Sheriff’s office, T.I. and his wife Tiny “were found to be in possession of a controlled substance”, later to have been confirmed as ecstasy. At the time, the rapper was on probation from a previous ten month stint on federal weapons charges. The arrest led him to an eleven month sentence for drug possession and violating the terms of his probation. The drug charges later lifted.
TIP is now at a half-way house in Atlanta where he will serve the remainder of his punishment (one month). The rubber band man arrived at the facility fresh as ever, in a luxury bus followed by a 4 car entourage. He didn’t waste time to notify the public and took to twitter to announce his freedom;
“The storm is over & da sun back out. IT’S OUR TIME TO SHINE SHAWTY!!!!! “Welcome to the beginning of our Happy Ending!!!!”
We GoodFellaz are glad to say that in true T.I. fashion the grammy award winner is back at work. Since his release he has already signed a fictional book deal with Harper Collins entitled “Power & Beauty”, started to work on a reality series for VH1, and you already know he’s setting things up for a new album. Keep that momentum up TIP! The scene needs ya!
