Varn Curtis is back, and he wants ALL the Smoke!!

Already on his second project of 2021, Varn continues to revolutionize ‘loud pack rap’ with the release of his latest musical offering, the “Roll Another One” EP.

This time the Queens-bred emcee has linked up with famed lo-fi producer OS Arcade to cook-up 5 tracks of brand new heat to feed the streets, just in time for 4/20.

From the simplistic anthem “DopeMan”, where Varn deems himself the ‘Dime Bag Don’, to the DMX-flavored “F*cked’em All”– an ode to his female ‘achievements’- the Southside Queens artist once again delivers with kush-infused rhymes laced with the sour diesel instrumentals, providing one helluva high!

Building off the momentum of the new project, his current single “So High” (produced by Todee) has been burning up the streets and local smoke sessions  as well with it’s infectious beat and melody.

Recently GoodFellaz TV’s own Editor-in-Chief Tommy Gunz was invited to be a guest speaker  at Math, Science, Research & Technology High School  in Cambria Heights, Queens, for their Music Career Day. Sitting on a music panel that included several legendary figures in Hip Hop including Cool DJ Red Alert, Ralph Mc Daniels of “Video Music Box”, DJ Chuck Chillout, and more, the speakers talked about their origins and accomplishments in the music business, and answered questions from the students in attendance.

Hosted by former Hot 97 radio personality Lil Nat, each panel member discussed their experiences and contributions to the music industry, and shared valuable advice with those students interested in getting into ‘the music biz’.  The purpose of the events was to show the high school students the different options available to them in the career fields of Music, Marketing, Radio Communications, and more upon graduating.

Rapper Action Bronson has been creating quite the stir in the rap game as of late. The master chef, turned master MC has only been whipping work since early 2011,  but that hasn’t stopped this Flushing, Queens native from serving up several masterpieces in that short time. Bronsolino (Brän-sō-lēn-ō), as he’s known, has been dropping studio albums & mixtapes so steadily, so speedy, and with so much flavor one has to wonder; is he cheffing these creations up in the lab or in the kitchen? Bronson’s latest entree “SAAAB STORIES” (produced by Harry Fraud) is a happy medium between the polished sounds of Alchemist collabo “RARE CHANDLERS” and the gritty, no fucks given attitude of “BLUE CHIPS” (#7 on Complex’s ‘The 10 Best New York City Rap Albums of the Past 10 Years’ list). The only problem with SAAAB STORIES is its short serving size which has hungry Hip Hops heads lines up for more.

Bronson’s sound has quite often been compared to Ghostface Killah’s, while his playful diction has shades of Big Pun. His gritty non-stop rapping reminds us of Kool G Rap; but while Hip Hop heads argue and try to get a bead on Bronson, he’s most likely in Milan or the U.K doing #RareSquates (kinda like planking but for husky people) with a huge smile emanating from his gigantic red beard, just loving the fact that in just a couple years time he’s already being compared to Hip Hop Idols of that magnitude.

Though Action Bronson’s flow can be compared to others, his look and sense of humor is ALL his own. Bam-Bam (as he’s ALSO known) doesn’t look like your average rapper, but then again, “what’s a rapper”? This husky Albanian has a “red beard, big blue eyes, a strange look”, as he put it. Even so, Hip Hop heads haven’t held it against him. The game is more open minded now and more accepting to different rappers, as long as they bring some new flavor into this bland rap era and right now, no one’s been spicing the game up more than Action Bronson.

Recently the GoodFellaz were in attendance at the Styles P album release event for his New Album “F.L.O.A.T.”, held at the legendary “Hall of Fame” studios in Queens, NY. For the new project, “The Ghost” linked up with producer-extraordinaire Scram Jones. The result is 12-tracks of pure hip-hop released by indy-label Nature Sounds, and features the singles “Hater Love” and “Red Eye”. The New Album features guest appearances from Jadakiss, N.O.R.E, Sheek Louch and Raekwon, among others.

Ayyyyyyy !!! Recently Juelz Santana & Olivia came to Queens, NY and put on a classic show at the legendary Club Amazura. The event, put together by IndieElite Promotions & RespectDaGrind, also featured some of the Tri-State’s hottest up-and-coming talent who opened up for Olivia & Juelz.

Reppin’ for all the ladies in attendance, Olivia put on a great performance, showcasing her often slept-on vocal abilites. With the females singing along as she performed her classic hits, she also spoke on the upcoming season of “Love & Hip-Hop”, promising a “very entertaining” upcoming season.

After Olivia’s set, Dip Set’s own Juelz Santana came on stage and had the crowd going crazy. The Harlem rapper, who is rumored to be in the studio working on his highly anticipated album “The Reagan Era: Born To Lose, Built To Win”, performed classic joints including “Dip Set Anthem”, his “Swag Surfin'” remix and more for the audience. Recently Prodigy of Mobb Deep was in Brooklyn, NY for the book release of his autobiography “My Infamous Life”. This was one of Prodigy’s first public appearances since being released from his 3 year jail sentence. During the course of the event he was being interviewed by Toure of “Rolling Stone Magazine” and Fuse TV’s “Hip-Hop Shop”. During the interview Prodigy talked about subject matter from his book including his early childhood, dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia, how he almost had Jay-Z beaten up and his alleged sexual encounters with Lil Kim & Lindsay Lohan. After the interview I chopped it up with Toure about the interview he conducted with Prodigy. Toure remarked that Prodigy always does great interviews, and that he’s enlightening and intelligent and always tells a great story, similar to his rhymes.

After the interview I brought Prodigy’s autobiography “My Infamous Life”, and if you’re a true Mobb Deep fan or Hip-Hop fan in general, this book is well worth the money. There were a lot of things about Prodigy revealed in this book that I didn’t know. According to the book, Prodigy lived the hood lifestyle growing up in Lafrack City, Queens, where he had to rob people to make end meet. The most interesting part of the book was learning the instrumental role Q-Tip (from A Tribe Called Quest) played in Mobb Deep’s career. According to the book, when Q-Tip heard Mobb Deep’s demo, he got them a meeting with Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen at Def Jam Records. However Lyor Cohen’s didn’t want to sign Mobb Deep because he didn’t think teenagers making hard-core hip hop could sell.

Overall, this book is an amazing read. Prodigy details his life very vividly, especially regarding his time spent in the penitentiary. The book details subject matter including beef with 2pac, Jay-Z, and shockingly with fellow Queens residents Capone N Noreaga. He even goes as far as to call Capone a snitch for testifying against Havoc’s Brother.  For more details, make sure you pick up Prodigy’s “My Infamous Life”, IN STORES NOW !!
