It seems like there’s No Limit to Cash Money Records plans for hip-hop domination! Their latest move: signing former No Limit Records platinum artist Mystikal. The New Orleans rapper, who was recently released from prison after serving a 6-year bid, is now back on the scene, having just released a New Song entitled “Original” featuring his new label-mates Lil Wayne & Bidman. However according to Mystikal, the move which appeared to be a shock to the rest of the hip-hop world was actually a long-time in the making, having this to say in a recent Vibe Magazine Interview:
“It was actually materializing for a while now. The conversation started when I was going through my incarceration. And those conversations continued once I came home. The right things happened and the right kind of deal was made.right on for me.”
The Louisiana MC, who was once on top of the hip-hop world with his smash-hit “Shake Ya Ass”, has had a long journey these last couple of years. Mystikal pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion surrounding an incident in 2002, where it was alleged that the rapper and two accomplices blackmailed a former-hairstylist into having sex with them, after it was revealed that she had stolen $80,000 in unauthorized checks from his bank account.
Mystikal is the latest addition to the Cash Money Army, which currently boasts an impressive roster including Lil Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj and newly signed hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes. When asked about the move to Cash Money in the same Vibe Interview, Mystikal remarked:
“Even Ray Charles could see what was happening over at Cash Money [laughs]. The minute I went over there and stepped my foot in the studio I knew it was real. I never thought I would go from No Limit to Cash Money. It was like God was leading me. Imagine what I can do over here.”
And as far as a tentative Album Release Date:
“It’s about to be crazy, “We are projecting a new album from me in about April.”
