The results are in: And it’s Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy”, over Kanye West’s “Donda”, by a landslide…

After nearly a year of missed release dates and an on-again, off-again feud, arguably the 2 biggest artist’s in Hip-Hop finally dropped their long-awaited projects within a week of each other. Kanye released his highly anticipated “Donda”, album on Sunday, August 29th, and the following week Drake delivered his “Certified Lover Boy”, LP on Friday, September 3rd, to fans across the world.

In the time since these releases, fans and critics alike have debated which project was the BETTER album, however one fact has become clear: #CLB is the higher selling album, and it’s not even close.
“Donda”, was a monster release at the time, moving over 309,000 equivalent units in it’s first week, and more than 146,000 in it’s second, making it Ye’s 10th consecutive #1 Album, and (at the time) the highest selling album of 2021. However, those numbers pale in comparison to the success of “Certified Lover Boy”; which moved over 613,000 and 146,000 equivalent album units in it’s first two weeks respectively.

Indeed, Drizzy’s current dominance of the music landscape is so complete, that besides having the overall #1 Record in the country with “Way Too Sexy”, featuring Future & Young Thug, his latest album also occupies an additional 8 spots on the Billboard Top 10 Charts, and the ENTIRE Top 5; a feat that hasn’t been accomplished since the days of The Beatles.

So while Drake clearly bested Kanye in the overall sales competition, who actually WON the ‘Battle’ between the two Icons?? The World suffered a tremendous loss on April 9th, 2021 when Earl Simmons aka DMX passed away at the age of 50 years old. Suffering a crippling heart attack, the Hip Hop Icon was rushed to White Plains Hospital, NY, where he sadly passed after a week on life support.

A statement from the Simmons family stated:

Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart, and we cherish the times we spent with him.”

DMX ‘s music reflected his violent upbringing; full of anger, confusion, and grittiness, and spoken with a menacingly rough voice that captivated the attention of his audience. In  May 1998, DMX released his first album, “It’s Dark And Hell His Hot” , which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts and went on to sell over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone.

The multifaceted DMX was not only a talented rapper, but also had a promising acting career as well,  starred in several movies, including “Belly”, “Romeo Must Die”, and “Cradle 2 The Grave”, among others.

Since his passing, streams of DMX’s musical catalog have increased over 928%,  with over 75.7 million on-demand streams (audio and video combined) alone the day following his death. His single, “Ruff Ryders Anthem” shot back to #1 on the iTunes Charts that same week, with “Party Up” hitting #4, and “X Gon’ Give It To Ya'” taking the #7 spot.

Indeed, the impact of DMX- his music and his story, still can be felt throughout the world even in 2021.

But what exactly will be the Legacy of DMX in Music, Pop Culture & Life?

Recently the GoodFellaz were in attendance for the Jadakiss “Top 5 Dead or Alive” album release concert in NYC, and of course it was a classic show. Held at the infamous Stage 48 in Manhattan, the concert was in celebration for Jadakiss newest album, which he released on Def Jam Records. In front of a packed house, J-A-D-A performed his classic hits as well as new material from the album, and brought out an impressive roster of guests including Puff Daddy, Ne-yo, The Lox, Fabolous & Swizz Beatz, among others.

Better think twice before you bite into that burrito.

8 people to date have been hospitalized as a result of dining at Chipotle restaurants in the Washington State area.  So far, about 22 people have reportedly become sick since eating at Chipotle’s in this region.  That number is expected to multiply.  Anyone in the Pacific Northwest area who’s gotten sick since eating at the chain is encouraged to seek medical help.

Symptoms of E-Coli include bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, etc.  Discovered in 1885, Escherichia coli, or E-Coli for short, accounts for many cases of food poisoning every year.  It is imperative to wash all food items before you cook, and cook all meat well.  You should also use clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as well.

Chipotle has closed down 43 restaurants in the Washington State/Oregon area voluntarily due to the outbreak.  Tests are being conducted and patients are being checked.  Although the number is expected to spike, fast progress is expected in solving the E.Coli outbreak.  To date, no deaths have been reported.

For over 30 years Camorra, the Italian Mafia, joined by the watchless eye of the Italian government, has been dumping toxic waste all over parts of Italy.  This is a multi-million dollar business first brought to light by a Camorra secretary in 1997.  The places impacted by this illegal dumping are known as the “Triangle of Death”.  One such place, Campania, has been destroyed.  Disposing of the toxic waste legally would run an organization millions of dollars. Camorra paid people to dump in lakes, ponds, fields, lakes, and rivers.  Since this has started taking place, the areas affected have incurred high amounts of cancer and birth defects.

The Italian government allowed this scam to take place and by many accounts, every elected official knew about it. Those who lived in the “Triangle of Death” experienced breast cancer rates at 47% higher than the national average, while the rate of birth defects shot up to 80% above the norm.  All this with the Italian government classifying the information first brought to light 18 years ago.  Therefore, the government knew about it, but deemed it’s citizens not worthy to know they were being poisoned.  Then in 2013, when the Italian media blew the lid off this issue, the Italian government decided to do something about it.

This is not the first time a government has had knowledge of things being harmful to its people and not acting; allegedly Pearl Harbor was bombed with the United States knowing it was coming.  What is the purpose of all the bar code-scanning, high-tech surveillance if it is not to keep people safe?  It appears the government is nosey and just wants to stay in power.  In the information age, knowledge is power, and the government has a great deal of it.  However, as in the example of Italy and it’s “Triangle of Death”, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
