Once a rapper that continues to play the ‘tough’ role gets smacked around repeatedly, it should be apparent to them that they should leave that act alone.

Joe Budden is more famous for getting beat-up than he is for selling records. He’s gotten smacked up by Consequence (who is not particularly known for being a ‘gangsta rapper’ to begin with) and Raekwon; he was destroyed verbally by The Game; at one point his boy had gotten smacked by Ransom and crew; the list goes on and on. Lets face it, once getting beat-up or smacked-up is spoken of more than your actual music, it’s time to QUIT. And we’re not even talking about his ‘on-the-low’ beefs with Method Man, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, or any other beef that didn’t get publicized.

Joe Budden is particularly pathetic because he’s on “Love and Hip Hop”; another show full of losers, always crying, or getting tough with females. He is yet another artist whose career was killed by Reality TV. Budden is extremely gifted lyrically, but it’s just time to admit he can’t beat a drum. At this rate, the Next ass-whooping he’ll receive will probably be at the hands of Frank Ocean, and Budden will still try to play the ‘tough guy’ role.

Hip Hop has gone through a great evolution for the cornballs and the weak guys. Artists like Kanye West, Drake, Lil B, the entire Odd Future, Wale,  and Big Sean, among others, have made it acceptable for a rapper to leave the ‘tough guy’ image behind for a more vulnerable persona. Maybe Joe Budden would benefit from following suit. It’s officially the ‘Softie’ Era in Hip Hop, and all the fake ‘tough guys’ from the good ‘ole days should come out of the closet; no pun intended.

It wasn’t all love on the set of “Love and Hip Hop’s” Reunion-special taped on Tuesday night. Things got heated behind the scenes when Joe Budden took a smoke break with Tahiry. As he was walking out apparently, Consequence went in for a quick snuff.

Consequence was overheard telling a very pregnant Winter on the couch that he seen Joe smoking on the side like a base head, he invited him to talk for a second and apparently SMACKED Joe Budden, then he tells Winter that Tahiry came to her, “off again, on again” boos’ defense and smacked the shit out of him.

The show began taping their version of Joe’s, “Truth or Truth” segment and cast members were taking seats on the couch, Joe was the last to appear and as he get himself together, glasses on, shoes on…and takes a seat…he hears Consequence mumble to Winter, and he’s off! He runs off the the stage to where Consequence was sitting and smacked him- (Editors Note: Yes, that’s right, Joe Budden SMACKED Consequence, you read correctly…lol)- and then total mayhem  ensued. Audience members scrambled to get out the way, Yandy and Jen run off their couches as security come to hold down the feuding duo.

All five-foot-nothing of Consequence needed 4 security men to hold him down as he was in an emotional frenzy, yelling:

“Come here n***a and get some of the dis, your b**** hits harder than you.”

and

“C’mon Hookah Boy, I got something for ya.”

At last Miss Mona Scott came to save the day and told Consequence to relax.

Meanwhile Joe Budden sat on the stage, and blew him sweet, sweet kisses!

“Success is Certain”, the brand new album from Royce da 5’9 dropped Tuesday August 9th, and GoodFellaz TV was in the building for the Album Release Concert at SOB’s in NYC. Riding the success of his current collaboration album “Bad Meets Evil” with longtime partner-in-rhyme Eminem, this was Royce’s first time headlining a NYC concert in over 5 years.

With the legendary DJ Premier on the turntables, Royce da 5’9 put on a classic show, with the help of a few friends. Sharing 5 patron bottles with the crowd, Royce showed his lightning fast delivery and crushing lyrics over a multitude of his classic songs. In front of a hyped-up crowd of hip-hop heads in attendance, he later brought out Joe Budden and Joell Ortiz (Crooked I was injured), who then proceeded to perform many of their Slaughterhouse hits.

Patron bottle in hand, Royce then declared a “drinking intermission” and brought out the legendary Talib Kweli, who went straight into his classic “Get By” record. After that Royce kept the momentum going, ended the night with “Assassins” which brought out Pharoache Monch and Jean Grae, who both showed that they could hold their own with Royce.

Will “Success is Certain” reach the same critical success of “Bad Meets Evil” now that Eminem has stepped into the background, producing and appearing only a few cuts for the album? Royce da 5’9 showed NYC that he was more than capable of holding his own.
