If there is not a police task force specifically watching rappers and Hip-Hop celebrities, then it must just be a coincidence that so many of Hip-Hop’s elite have been arrested for all types of charges. The newest victim of such an observant task force is Ja Rule. He is expected to turn himself in to serve a 2 year prison sentence today. The conviction is for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. The police found it stashed in the backseat of his Maybach. It was a semi-automatic .40 caliber with the serial numbers scratched off.

What’s worse is that he has another case pending for tax evasion. He is accused of avoiding to pay tax on $3 Million income. He’s facing another three years for this charge, although his lawyers are expecting to make this sentence run concurrently with his other conviction, meaning both sentences will be served at once. It appears that when it rains, it pours. Rappers can’t seem to get a break.

In the meantime, his first musical offering in six year is scheduled to be released later this summer. He already has no buzz at this time, therefore you can only imagine how low his record sales will be. At 35 years of age, it may be a wrap for Ja Rule’s rap career with Hip Hop’s already short term memory.
